Helicopter Crash Sites

Crash sites contain some of the rarest military loot in DayZ. Knowing how to find and approach them can give you a huge advantage.

Types of Crashes

• American Heli (UH-1H) → NATO weapons (M4, FAL)
• Russian Heli (Mi-8) → Eastern weapons (VSD, AKM, SVD)

💡 The type of crash often determines the loot pool.

Spawn Locations

• Spawn randomly in open fields across the map
• Despawn after ~30 minutes
• Respawn in a new location

⚠️ If you wait too long, it may disappear before you get there.

How to Find Them

• Look for smoke columns during the day
• Listen for helicopter sounds (heard from 1km+)
• Check known spawn zones regularly
• Use high ground for better visibility

Loot Found at Crashes

• Weapons → VSD, M4-A1, FAL, SVD, LAR
• Attachments → Suppressors, NVGs, scopes
• Clothing → Ghillie suits, military gear
• Equipment → Night vision, rangefinders

Dangers

• High-traffic PvP zones
• Zombies drawn to the smoke
• Open terrain = you’re exposed
• Players may already be camping nearby
